A Family Business: Shaun, Karen, and Joshua
Shaun grew up on the family farm in Pingelly and obtained his restricted pilots licence at 16. He first went to Wongan Hills at the age of 17 for seeding and has contributed to seeding every year since. At 19 Shaun started work in the mines at Laverton and shortly after, landed a position at Argyle Diamond Mines.
In his twenties, Shaun and his father built a 35 acre vineyard from scratch. Shaun also built large grain silos and worked on offshore gas drill rigs - the Goodwin A, North Rankin and others.
Shaun has owned and worked portable saw mills. He has driven trucks carting grain, hay, chaff, fertiliser, coal, sea containers on the wharf, mining equipment and has driven food up north with triple road trains.
As a part of his research Shaun has been to Canada, USA and the Eastern States of Australia. He has also flown to Europe to further investigate electricity turbines and the new diesel manufacturing plant.
The knowledge Shaun has acquired on his travels and the industries he has been a part of will assist in providing creative solutions for issues the agricultural industry faces. He is passionate about supporting agriculture and rural communities.
Karen grew up in Kalamunda. Over the years she worked on her Uncles farm in Yealering undertaking a variety of farm work; operating machinery, seeding, harvest, sheep handling etc. Also as a youth worker in roles such as a Chaplain at Narrogin Senior High School and Wongan Hills District High School. She is passionate about living and being involved in the rural community.
It has been a team effort in bringing this organisation to life.
Joshua is the newest member of the team… and is learning the ropes!
